Personal

Dr. Melnick was born and raised in West Los Angeles. After graduation from U.S.C. he moved to Encino where he resides today. His hobbies include electronics and gardening. Dr. Melnick is licensed in radio communications by the FCC and has been a ham radio operator since he was 16 years old. He built and operates amateur radio station Wa6hgb.

 An award winning gardener, he is an expert in rare fruits and has written several articles on the subject. He is also involved in animal rescue and is proud to have placed 6 abandoned dogs recently. His current pound puppies are Charlie, a willful Palmerainian and Joey, a lap loving Corgy. Family photos available on request. Dr. likes to often joke that his pals are smarter than some of his past employees and lots more friendly.

Honors

The Academy of General Dentistry
Fellowship in the AGD is today the most recognizable designation within the dental community of commitment to continuing education and life long learning and it serves as a model by which to measure professional excellence (Agd1998). Allan Melnick D.D.S. was the first Dentist in Encino and the San Fernando Valley to receive this honor. Recently he was given the honor of Lifetime Fellow of the Academy.

American Dental Association
Dr. Melnick was awarded Life Time Membership by the ADA for high professional standards, community service, commitment to education and contributions to the profession. He is one of a very small group to be so honored.

California Dental Association
Dr. Melnick was selected to be a Life Member because of his dedication to the profession of dentistry. Because of his knowledge and experience the Association has found him as well qualified to mentor new and  less experienced dentists. 

Community Involvement

Dr. Melnick enjoyes being active in the community, especially in environmental issues and organizations, such as Save the Bay and the Sierra Club. His true passion is not only amimal rescue but "people rescue".  Dr. Melnick supports shelters and food banks for the homeless both financially and in his willingness to be supportive to those in need in many ways.
